After spending time on the Boston club circuit, under the tutelage of their manager at first, Frank Connelly, the band began to work together with New York managers Steve Leber and David Krebs. The band's debut album, which was called "Eponymous" and was released in the year 1973. They got a recording contract in the year 1972. The album was followed by Get Your Wings and Toys in the Attic and Rocks. The album brought Aerosmith international fame and recognition. The albums that inspired them were the basis of legendary hits such as "Dream On", Walk This Way as well as "Sweet Emotion". Aerosmith's first five albums were all multi-platinum. Toys in the Attic and Rocks have been considered as the greatest hard rock albums of all time. However, as the decade progressed the frantic pace of recording, touring, living together, and using substances began to take its toll on the band. Due to their use of heroin and stimulants, Tyler and Perry were sometimes called the Toxic Twins. Aerosmith Behind the Music as well as many other video releases from Aerosmith illustrate their bond. Tyler is, evidently, more committed to the group and the band, was seen to be resentful of Perry's passiveness and admire Perry's prioritization of the women in his life. The dynamic of tension between Tyler, Perry, and their once-friendly girlfriends was apparently a leading factor in the gradual decay of Aerosmith around 1980.
